Coaching is mainly focused on digging into where you are now and where you’d like to go or be. My “specialties” are based on my life experiences & training which fall into 4 general areas:
- Adventure & risk taking
- Entrepreneurship & starting new projects
- Overcoming failure & loss
- Creativity & the arts
I like to work with clients for three months meeting twice per month. Here’s the flow…
FREE CHEMISTRY CALL
In this 20 minute call, we will be able to connect and see if we are a good fit for each other. You’ll be able to ask some questions and I’ll want to get the basic idea of what you’re looking for coaching on. If we feel that it’s a good match and you’d like to move forward, I’ll send you a couple of forms to fill out where you can answer a few more questions in preparation for our first Discovery Session together.
We will connect either on the phone, video call, or in person (your choice) and dig into the answers you wrote in the discovery packet I sent you. This will involve me being very curious about where you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go.
For the next weeks or months that we end up working together, I am on your side. My commitment to you as your coach is to walk with you and allow you to set the agenda for what we talk about. Depending on what comes up, here is what you can expect in any of our sessions together:
- I will ask you powerful questions.
- We will discover your values.
- We will explore your life purpose and what makes you come alive.
- We will look into your saboteurs (inner critics) and what’s stopping you from doing and being what you really want to do and be.
- I will be present with you… even if we start getting into uncomfortable, hard or painful topics.
- I will help you get to where you want to be.
I will help you navigate loss, change or transition by exploring your inner landscape. My hope is that you will find the courage to risk as we create new perspectives on the next chapter in your journey.
And speaking of that, here are a couple of tunes that I wrote on the topic of moving forward, forgiving, and letting go called “Never Look Back” as well as “Gentle Direction”.
Nico is a brilliant coach. He has this ability to see through who you are and bring up the ‘nasty’ to help you move forward. In my time working with him, I improved my close relationships and I have started to change my money mindset which brought me inner peace.“– Anne G. | professional COACH / pilates instructor | amsterdam, NL
Nico never provided the answers. Instead he provided the questions that helped me rediscover my values, renewed my sense of self, and reminded me how to dream again.”manirah A. | School teacher | virginia, USA
One of the things I really appreciated about Nico from the get-go was his calm demeanour and his ability to really see me and gear the conversation based on who I am, what I care about which really cleared up space to open up and unpack everything. Nico asks good questions that force you to think, dig deep and reconcile, and take ownership as you take the next step moving forward.”– AMISHAR F. | COACH | New york
I was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years and when my youngest child left for college, I struggled to find a new focal point in my life. My hope-level surged when I started working with Nico, and it’s been super-interesting and fun to walk with him in this new season of life. One of the many amazing things we accomplished: Nico and I spontaneously wrote a song together – a lifelong dream of mine that never would have happened without him. The lyrics were born out of our sessions and are layered with meaning that will speak to me forever and remind me of where I’ve been, what we’ve accomplished, and where I’m going. Nico has challenged me and taught me new perspectives that have ultimately led to my “life purpose verse” which I am using to guide my decisions about how to spend my time and where to give my heart. There were many times in the past when I felt stuck or lost, but now I have a map to redirect me and keep me centered. There are tons of coaches out there, but I guarantee – no one is like Nico! My experience far exceeded my expectations, and I have no doubt that it was so impactful because of his intelligence, creativity, insight, and his gifts of listening and perceiving. Oh, and he’s hilarious. What a total blast this journey has been!”– Joellen P. | Super mom entrepreneur badass | Connecticut
I was in a bad place. Self doubt and loathing ruling my thoughts. My two year relationship had come to an end and was rightfully sad. Nico coached me giving me perspective and helpful direction. After our session I was able to recognize my destructive thoughts and turn them into positive ones.”– TRAVIS C. | entrepreneur | Kelowna, BC
I think we all want to be our most alive, loving, awake, present selves, we just don’t always know how to get there. Like going to the gym, I believe you need community to motivate you in being your best self… this helped put into motion this type of 6th sense, self perspective, of how the “where to go and how to get there” has all to do with our state inside.– Lance b. | home builder
What is the difference between Consulting, Therapy, and Coaching?
Coaching is a relatively new profession and commonly confused with two older and more established ones, Consulting and Therapy. While there are similarities and sometimes overlap depending on the individual practitioner, Coaching is its own service. Here are the general differences between Consulting, Therapy, and Coaching.
Consulting is the business of evaluating and advising a group of people who are looking to achieve a specific goal. Consultants are individuals who are have niche knowledge or expertise and service clients by providing evaluations, strategies, trainings, and/or ongoing implementation support. Consulting is either a short-term or long-term relationship depending on the Consultant and the desires of the clients.
Therapy (also known as psychotherapy or counselling) draws on a range of modalities to alleviate mental distress and heal trauma. Therapy is provided by a mental health professional trained in psychology and human development with the aim to support healthy functioning in the present and future. Therapy is generally provided in a long-term relationship developed between a therapist and individual, couple, or family.
Life Coaching uses a range of modalities to empower an individual to identify their vision, values, and purpose in the present so they may take action towards their self-determined goals for the future. Life Coaches are individuals who are skilled at mirroring an individual back to themselves and asking people to grow and achieve. Life Coaching is either a short-term or long-term relationship between a Coach and an individual, couple, family, or group of individuals.
Unlike Consultants, Life Coaches do not provide evaluations or advice.
Unlike Therapists, Life Coaches do not explore causes of behavior or past circumstances as it relates to the present. While healing sometimes happens in a coaching relationship, it is not the focus.
