Sometimes you have to shred the classics and remember where you came from. Sometimes that is so funny you can’t breathe… and sometimes it can be a painful journey… one worthy of cringing so hard that all of the hair on your back stands up.
Ari Neufeld. My friend since grade 3 and my musical teacher / idol / inspiration. We talk about how we’ve made it 35 years as friends and where it all began. We also spontaneously shred a few of the first songs we learned and how these classics influenced all of the songs we’ve written. We land by talking about the keys to having a long friendship or relationship… how humility is like a fart.
We wrote a song together in 2018 called “Never Look Back” which we recorded together back then… but we bring that one back for a live version here on my back deck.

NEVER LOOK BACK by Ari Neufeld & Nico Boesten
I sifted through
The remains of the wreckage
All that I was and all I’d ever hoped to be
Never thought I could feel so helpless
But nothing’s the way It was supposed to be
Whatever happened to every little thing is gonna be alright
If we could look at our past maybe we could shed a little light
If you wanna get going to where you want to end up getting
You’ve gotta let go of the things that need forgetting
And never look back
What if I met you today
We both exchanged our numbers
We both had so much to say
So much to lose, so much to gain
And it kinda makes me wonder
As it is, so it was, so it could be
As it was in the beginning
I wanna make the most
If each and every situation
So tired of the ghost
Of my failed expectations
